Axel Rudi Pell – Knights Call

6/10

The question you can ask first is if Axel Rudi Pell has been recording the same album for the 18th time? I can’t answer that question because I haven’t heard all his albums. Some people out there is claiming that his sound is the same as before. In my opinion Axel is pretty good writing riffs and strong choruses. “The Wild And The Young”, “Long Live Rock” and “Follow The Sun” is very good metal I think.

There is one thing I don’t like on this album and that’s the intro. I have been asking myself for several years now why bands are having intros on their albums. I’m allergic to this figment and “The Medieval Overture” is not an exception. After the intro it’s getting better and I think that Johnny Gioeli is one of the best singers in the world of hardrock right now. I like the fact that he also is lead singer in Hardline who are a different kind of band. He prove that he has a big voice that can adapt to two kinds of hardrock/metal.

The best song on the album is “The Crusaders Of Doom” and that is eight minutes who is as close to perfection that you can come. I wish that I could say the same about the other marathon song on the album. That song is called “Tower Of Babylon” and it wraps up the album. But it’s even worse than the intro and that’s not a very good rating if you ask me. If I sum it up Axel has been releasing an album that’s good and I really don’t care if he’s been sounding the same on 18 records. Axel Rudi Pell have found the sound that he can manage so there is nothing more to say about that.
