The Diary of Jane – Chapter 3: Songs to live for
Let’s face it – some songs are just simply more special than others…
The ones that just get stuck in the head and fill the soul with all kinds of emotions.
That stay in the mind as kind of a reminder of why music means so much.
And after listening to it hundreds and hundreds of times at home, being able to catch a show with the artist or band – and THAT feeling, when you finally get to experience exactly that song live… is just out of this world.
That moment when you hear the intro, and your entire body just overflows with LOVE.
I’ve had a few of those moments (well, quite a lot of them since I am like a huge bubble of emotions, haha).
I still think of those times with warmth, like watching Thunder at Sweden Rock Festival – and hearing ”Love walked in”. Or ”Just take my heart” by Mr. Big, ”Dream on” by Aerosmith and ”Bittersweet” by Apocalyptica… (oh, cello… I love cello).
Those are true goosebumps moments, and of course I cried… because music.
And those times my beloved songs were all performed with deepest respect, bringing out the best of the songs.
And the more I think about it, the more of those moments come up and make me smile.
On the other hand – there are also those memories of the ones that didn’t make the song justice, or when they didn’t even have it on the setlist…
Oh.
The.
Disappointment.
Like Sebastian Bach at Sweden Rock 2005. I was really hoping for ”Wasted time”, since it is a song I absolutely LOVE.
And he completely slaughtered it.
That song will never be the same again.
(Yes, I AM still feeling the pain)
Or Rick Springfield – I have seen him twice… and neither of those times did he play one of my most loved songs – ”Souls”.
(Maybe ONE day… I am still hoping for that to happen, even though I don’t even know if I’ll get the chance to see him again.)
There are also those songs and bands I love, that I will never get to experience live. Like ”The show must go on” by Queen. With Freddie Mercury. That song has always been, and will always be, special to me. And I will never get to cry watching them perform it live…
But luckily there will always be new songs to love.
Songs I can have a chance to be overwhelmed by, from a stage somewhere out there.
Right now I am really hoping and waiting for ”Oceandeep” by Beast In Black, because that song is just pure perfection and completely heals my broken bones.
(And also some songs by some bands that are yet to be released, but will be absolutely amazing to hear live and I just can’t wait!)
And also, this one.
I am just totally obsessed with this song.
