The guitar prodigy who made his name with Marty Friedman in the duo Cacophony and recorded David Lee Roth’s album “A Little Ain’t Enough” at 19 (hard rocker “Taking Me Back” and the bluesy “Tell Me No Lies” are unreleased songs from those sessions) is still around. He was diagnosed with ALS 29 years ago and lost the ability to play guitar, walk, talk, and breathe on his own but by communicating through a series of eye movements, Jason now spells out words as well as musical notes and chords.
The 14 tracks that makes up “Triumphant Hearts” – to be released on the 7th of December through Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group – showcase Jason’s gift for melody and his deep knowledge of classical composition and orchestral arrangement. Many of the guitar parts are performed by guitar gods such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Neal Schon, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert, Uli Jon Roth, Trevor Rabin and Joe Bonamassa. However, Jason’s own guitar playing recorded in the ’80s and ’90s also grace several tunes.
The first track to be released from the album is the 9 minute instrumental “Valley Of Fire” featuring The Magnificent 13, better known individually as Steve Vai, Joe Bonamassa, Paul Gilbert, Neal Schon, Marty Friedman, Michael Lee Firkins, Mattias IA Eklundh, Greg Howe, Jeff Loomis, Richie Kotzen, Gus G, Steve Hunter and Ben Wooods.
