Leaves’ Eyes whips The Last Viking with the Chain Of The Golden Horn

As previously reported here at Stargazed Magazine, “The Last Viking” will be released on October 23rd, 2020. The symphonic metal band Leaves’ Eyes have previously turned Leif Eriksson’s discovery of America and the life of Norway’s first king into music, on their cult-albums “Vinland Saga” (2005) and “King of Kings” (2015).

Finnish soprano-sensation Elina Siirala has become a key strength to the band’s sound and the raging pagan-hymn “Chain Of The Golden Horn” chronicles Hardrada’s dangerous escape from Byzantium, where a heavy iron chain was hidden in the Bosporus waters to wreck hostile ships. Watch the music video for this latest single here:

The first single off “The Last Viking” was “Dark Love Empress”. Released in the middle of August, the song is about the vengeful empress Zoë. When the Viking hero refuses to be one of her many lovers she has him locked in the Byzantine dungeons. The attentive reader recognizes, it’s not happening by accident, that those two clips have been released in that particular order. They successively narrate the whole story.
