Adrian Vandenberg to release acoustic versions of songs from his carreer

Some time Whitesnake guitarist Adrian Vandenberg formed the band Vandenberg’s MoonKings in late 2013 and has released two albums under this name. Featuring stripped back acoustic versions of songs from across his career, their new record ‘Rugged and Unplugged’ will be released on November 23rd (2 November in the Benelux) via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group.

“For me, the sign of whether a song is good or not, is whether it still stands up when it’s completely stripped down to the bare essence of it,” says Vandenberg. He continues, “What I find with acoustic versions of songs you already know, is that they can touch you in a different way than the full band and even orchestral versions. You don’t get ‘impressed’ by big guitars, drums and even orchestras. As a performer you can’t hide behind all that, so what’s left is the emotional content of the performance and the actual song.”

The 1983 hit “Burning Heart” features Vandenberg’s acoustic guitar and the vocals of Jan Hoving on this version. Paul Rodgers and David Coverdale has been Adrian’s favourite vocalists ever since his teens and with Jan he feels the songs has gotten the kind of vocals he intended for the song when he first wrote it in 1981. Slip Of The Tounge and Sailing Ships from the 1989 Whitesnake album are tested live staples with the MoonKings while the instrumental album closer Sundown is the only totally new song.
