David Paich will release a solo album in August

The Players Club / Mascot Label Group are pround to announce the release of David Paich debut as a solo artist with “Forgotten Toys” on August 19th!

Paich says this about the Spirit of the Moonrise: “It’s a recurring dream I have of an upset girl driving around in the moonlight. It has puzzled me many nights… ” Boz Scaggs. Mötley Crüe. Steely Dan. Bryan Adams. George Martin. Michael Jackson. Quincy Jones. P! NK. Aretha Franklin. Miles Davis. The Doobie Brothers. Stevie Nicks. Dolly Parton. Jessie J. Cher. Rod Stewart. Tina Turner. Michael McDonald. Joan Baez. Ray Charles. Elton John. Barbra Streisand… and many more. If you’ve been listening to music for the past 50 years, with any of the above artists, you’ve heard of David Paich. Music is the soundtrack to our lives and David is one of its creators.

In recent years, David, along with Toto, has experienced something of a renaissance in popularity like few other bands so far in his career and now has a large audience around the world that spans several generations. In fact, Africa has been streamed over 1 billion times and is one of the songs in music history that has been compiled and covered most times by Jay-Z, Pitbull, Ellie Goulding and Weezer, among others.

Like many other memories and souvenirs, music is something we cherish. We dust off our favorite songs when we need them and then put them back in the treasure chest of memory and then rediscover them several years later. With his huge catalog of songs, he has long had thoughts on a solo record. Covid gave him the opportunity to check his archive again and the result was a collection of songs that he carried with him for many years. He says, “The time seemed right to put something together. Some of these are truly forgotten gems. I had not been in my studio for a while and I kept coming back to these songs. I rediscovered them in the hope of being able to put them together like a musical puzzle. ”

The cover is a poetic, nostalgic representation of the album’s concept. It contains a wealth of memories that Paich’s wife has saved over the years. “I hope the record gives an insight into other sides of me. The ones you have never heard before in my music. ” Music is the soundtrack in our lives. For David, it is so much more than the soundtrack to his life. As one of its creators, it is his life.
