Live review: Thobbe Englund, Sabaton Cruise 2019
The clock strikes midnight, monday becomes tuesday and it’s time for the last band on the cruise to enter the stage. Getting the honor as the final act on the cruise is no easy task. An honor, but not easy. The audience has received their dose of Sabaton, Civil war has just delivered a really good gig. Thobbe Englund will now close the cruise. Despite the weight on his shoulders, he can do this without problems. Relaxed and with a little humor he just delivers. Nor can he be influenced by the audience that scans for Swedish pagans. No Thobbe runs his own songs except a Judas Priest cover in the form of “The Ripper” who would have made all Judas Priest cover bands jealous, maybe even Judas Priest themselves. Thobbe shows his talent as a guitarist in his songs. No long boring grinding solos. It’s not necessary. Everyone knows that Thobbe can handle a guitar. The band that backs up Thobbe are really skilled musicians. Really good musician. Everyone delivers and closes the cruise together with the audience who like what they hear.
