Ayreon releases the brand new explosive and epic studio album “Transistus” on September 25, 2020 on Music Theories Recordings. It will be released along with a 25-page cartoon album and will be forthcomingI formatted CD, double LP in colored vinyl and 48-page earbook containing 5 plates: double CD, CD with instrumental versions, CD with different vocal versions and DVD with bonus material such as films taken during recordings, videos, trailer and a 5.1 audio mix of the record.

In 2017, Ayreon released The Source which made a return visit to the Forever / Planet Y saga but now three years later
it is time for something completely different … “We are in the year 1884 which are dark and dangerous times, colored by greed, jealousy and prejudice …” the story begins says Tom Baker …

Transistus is based on a whole new idea that is not linked to Ayreon’s universe but which always has several discrete connections. The sci-fi theme paves the way for a Gothic ghost story that (partially) takes place during the 19th century with elements of terror and the supernatural. It is a dark and storming night when the story of Abby and Daniel starts.

Super-talented multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen drew inspiration from supernatural films that The Others, The Changeling and Ghost together with works by composers of film music such as John Carpenter (Halloween), Ennio Morricone (Once Upon A Time In The West) and Jerry Goldsmith (Omen). “And of course checked I like all my rock opera favorites like JC Superstar, Tommy, War of the Worlds and the Wall, ”Lucassen adds

Transistus narrative voice is one of the most iconic and familiar in sci-fi, best known for his eight years as a Doctor Who: Tom Baker. “I wanted a classic storyteller with a mature, deep and warm voice. As a child, I was one big fan of Doctor Who and my absolute favorite was Tom Baker. I had a hard time believing it when he accepted mine inquiry. We went to the UK to record him and it was an experience I will never forget. ”

As with all Ayreon’s albums, it’s an explosive story with guest artists like Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) like Daniel and Cammie Gilbert (Oceans of Slumber) as Abby. The star lineup also includes Simone Simons (Epica), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Johanne James (Threshold), Noa Gruman (Scardust), Marcela Bovio (MaYan), Caroline Westendorp (The Charm the Fury), Paul Manzi (Arena), Michael Mills (Toehider) and Amanda Somerville (Avantasia, Trilium) among many others.
