We’re proud to welcome the very forefathers of doom metal – Candlemass – back to Sabaton Open Air. With the whole genre taking its name from their 1986 debut album, Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, this Stockholm band wrote the rulebook that many have followed since. In an amazing new development, the band has reunited with original vocalist Johan Langquist after a 32-year hiatus, meaning doom fans at Sabaton Open Air will be able to get a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of where it all started.

GAUPA (lynx in swedish) is a rock band from Sweden, Falun. With surreal lyrics, an energetic singer, and a sound of progressive stoner rock with doom/folk/psychedelic influences, they released their debut EP in June 2018. Even though their very recent ”coming out” on the rock scene, they’ve gained a lot of attention and have already played at Scandinavia’s biggest rock festival, Sweden Rock, and’ve been aired on radio shows in Poland, England, Sweden, USA and Australia. GAUPA recently signed a deal with the german record label Kozmik Artifactz and are releasing the EP on vinyl in 2019. One of their singles will also be featured on an upcoming American movie production.

Heavy metal band Liv Sin from Stockholm, Sweden, was founded in 2016 by singer Liv Jagrell after the demise of her previous band Sister Sin. They released their debut album “Follow Me” in 2017 which was received with a long awaited joy by the fan base. On the Stefan Kaufmann produced debut, the band showcased a classic heavy metal sound in the vein of Accept and Judas Priest with a twist from the Gothenburg sound and modern American metal. Since the release of “Follow Me” the band has toured Europe and also supported American Head Charge. They later released the praised acoustic EP “Inverted” in 2018, which was produced by Martin Sandvik of Hardcore Superstar, where they covered Danzig’s classic “Devil’s Plaything”. Now the band ventures into a new chapter on album number two produced by Deathstars’ Emil Nödtveidt in studio Black Syndicate. On this upcoming album expected to be released in April/May 2019, Liv Sin takes on a more melodic and aggressive sound with a modern touch of electronics.

Noted hard rockers BILLION DOLLAR BABIES have a well-earned reputation as one of Sweden’s most entertaining and explosive live acts. Over the last decade and more than 250 concerts in 14 European countries, including some of the biggest festivals in Sweden fans have learned to expect nothing less than the best from the band. Hailing from Falun in the middle of Sweden BILLION DOLLAR BABIES started as the unruly brain-child of lead singer Frankie Rich early 2005. Heavily influenced by big spectacle US rockers such as W.A.S.P, Marilyn Manson and Ozzy Osbourne, the band created their own standard for live shows and album sound.

RAVE THE REQVIEM, hailing from Kalmar, is an industrial metal act whose creativity knows no bounds. With heavy riffs, hard beats, catchy choruses and majestic symphonies, they have captivated people since day one. The band was founded in 2011 and soon thereafter signed a record deal with the Japanese label DWA who released their first two albums. Last year, the band signed a new record deal with the German label Out Of Line and joined the ranks of the industrial scene’s greatest acts. Their third and latest album ”FVNERAL [sic]” was mixed and mastered at the legendary Fascination Street Studios, and has been praised for its innovative and limitless hybrid of sounds. The album quickly climbed the international metal radio charts, and ended up at #9 in Germany and #33 in the USA.

PreHistoric Animals is a two man prog/alternative rockband from Sweden. Samuel Granath (Pound) – Drums and keys and Stefan Altzar (Billy the Zombie kid, Pound) – Guitar, bass and vocals; started with an embryo in 2015 and the debut album was released in November 2018. It’s about good people, ignorant dictators and stupid people who after all just keep on being stupid.

Have we got enough power metal on the bill for Sabaton Open Air 2019 yet? We think there’s always room for more, so please welcome Italy’s Frozen Crown! They’re fairly new on the scene but with their soaring vocals and one of the most promising young guitarists we’ve seen in a long time, they’re already making a big impact. If you’re a fan of Sonata Arctica and Kamelot, trust us – you’ll definitely want to catch these guys in Falun!

We’re going from one “sin” to another at Sabaton Open Air: from Liv Sin… to Kardinal Sin! This Swedish melodic power sextet started life as an Accept tribute, but went on to develop their own catchy and uplifting style. If you’re a fan of Helloween, Gamma Ray or Edguy you’ll want to catch their set in Falun!
