Amaranthe – Live at Sabaton Open Air 2022-08-06

Oh, dear god. I have never seen a band trying so hard before in my life. It is like looking at 6 people on stage, 3 singers & 3 musicians coiled up like springs. I do not know where one songs finish and the next one starts. If it was not for the singer Elize Ryd asking how we are doing all the time I would have been completely lost.

This was a pain to sit through. I am a person with an open mind and have been surprised by concerts before. So there is no judgement going from my side regarding what I did expect from Amaranthe.

One thing I am allergic to is when bands in the heavier compartment do loose the spur of the moment acting on stage and have rehearsed acting on stage that is so clear it is rehearsed. When you can plan your acting on stage and make it seem like it is in the moment it is good.

Amaranthe is like watching a bad, bad musical with actors that can not act. Trying to perform the songs like it is a dialogue between the three vocalists and not being able to deliver any kind of coherence in that fake musical just makes the experience worse.

It does not help that everything including instruments are at bass level 12, and the vocals come in at a much lower level. You loose the vocals completely.

I can not take anything more away from this concert than the fact that if I do get close to an Amaranthe concert again, I will give them another chance. Because no matter how stale and uninspiring this was, I do think that they can probably be more entertaining than they were today.
