Black Swan – Shake The World

8/10

Sometimes there is news in the music world that causes you to raise your eyebrows a little and think that, that will probably be good. When the news about the Black Swan came, I raised my eyebrows anyway and thought that this might be good. This is not a bad quartet that has come together and recorded an album. Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group), guitarist Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake), bassist Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, The End Machine, ex-Dokken), and drummer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big) is a quartet capable of making music.

The first song is “Shake the world” and when I first heard the song in my stereo, I almost know how I am transported back to the eighties. The voice, the riff and the sound are just as good. The disc continues in the same style. After my first listening I have had goose bumps several times. They deliver music expertly as you expect them to do. They have been with us for a while now but Robin McAuley’s voice sounds as good now as it always has. Looking forward to more discs with this quartet. The record is recorded at Jeff Pilson’s studio.
