Bombus review – Sabaton Open Air 2018

7/10

One of the well-established hard rock bands from the rock city of Gothenburg. The band has played and released music for a number of years. Latest album, the third “Repeat Until Death” came 2016. They have been nominated in P3 Gold and have been noted in several metal contexts. This is basically classic hard rock but with a slightly darker undertone. Above all, Feffe Berglund’s voice is a hallmark  you´ll recognize. A bit punky in his sound just like the music. I would not like to call this punk rock but there are influences in that direction.

Bombus takes off with a heavy guitar arrangement and then they continue in an extreme tempo. It is heavy and raw. Lots of guitars, fast drums, powerful voice. Together, this means, you as an audience are blown away by a rock hurricane that cannot be resisted. You just hangs on to a journey where the aggressive tempo and the sound does not leave any room for trained poses and advanced talk between songs. Things that in most cases need to be included to keep up the tempo of a gig. Bombus need nothing more than their music and their enormous energy.

Bombus is a band that can raise the tempo of any audience. They are very straight on, both in their image and in their musical expression. There are no unexpected things happening on stage, they just run on all the way into the last chord. The songs follow a fairly even pattern and give a homogeneous feel. A gig that does not stand out as a live show but a band that is well worth going and look at if you want a real rock wallop.
