Bonfire – Temple Of Lies

5/10

I can take to the protocol right now that Bonfire 2018 isn’t the same band as they were back in the days. There is only one member left from the glory days and Hans Ziller is to be honest not one of the best songwriters in the world. I like what I hear when it comes to the title track and songs like “On The Wings Of An Angel”, “Stand Or Fall” and “Crazy Over You. That’s classic hard rock the way Bonfire handles it.

My first experience with this German band was an album called “Fireworks”(1987) and it’s probably still one of the best albums made by a band from Germany. Maybe it’s wrong to compare “Temple Of Lies” with that album but I feel it’s in order to do that because they are still recording albums in the name of Bonfire. I’m sure this is the best Bonfire can come up with at the moment and it’s not crappy. It’s just doesn’t caught me the way I was hoping. I’m just a man who loves hard rock and heavy metal and I would love the fact if one of my old favourite bands would still deliever 31 years after the brilliant “Fireworks”.

Claus Lessman is gone and the new singer Alexx Stahl is doing a fine job. At the end of the day it’s nothing wrong with the musicians in the band. It’s the songs that’s not good enough. But I’m so grateful that bands like Bonfire still making records and play live. The scene of hard rock will live on and on and on………
