Bring Me The Horizon – Post Human: Survival Horror
10/10
Yup. It’s a ten. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it does and here it is. Actually I could see it coming with the singles “Ludens”, “Parasite Eve” and “Obey”. If you have three tracks like that on an album – you got a winner. Then add “Dear Diary”, and “Kingslayer” – you’re in the league of Very Special Albums. Top it up with tons of creativity and even more self asteam – you get a great piece of entertainment for nine songs, lasting in 39 minutes. The bottom mark of the album might just be the two most commercial tracks “Teardrops” and “1×1”.
BMTH have proven to be great songwriters since way back. They also proven to be fearless in trying new paths, mixing electronica and whatever else they might stumble upon, with their metal core. On Post Human: Survival Horror they bring all that together. And it rocks. Better still, these guys from Sheffield knows it rocks. They know they have done a once-in-a-lifetime-album. You know that when you put your best song last. With the ballad “One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death”, featuring Amy Lee from Evanescence, they finish with an extraordinary icing on their cake. And I don’t even like ballads.
If you have an open mind and if you’re ready for some real heavy sh*t, mixed with perhaps the most beautiful synts and harmonies you have heard in a long time – you should get this album in your headphones. Yes, use those. There are so many small details in this production worth getting your attention. You’re up for a real treat!
