Cirkus Prütz – Blues Revolution

7/10

“You say you want a revolution? Well, you know We all want to change the world” …

Well Cirkus Prutz isn’t too serious  about their revolution call, its more a call to arms for peace, love and understanding. Resourceful lyrics with great melodies and great musicianship.
It’s nice to hear The Quills guitarist Christian Carlsson fronting and singing here because his vocals suits this music perfectly. Indeed this should be a band for the masses. Today its hard to break through the constant flow of music thanks to streaming services and YouTube. But if you are into Blues and Blues rock this is something for you.

Growing up as a metal head I didn’t give a damn about blues, it was for old / very old people and took shortcuts to avoid that music. But a good thing about growing up is that you broaden your horizons and don’t give a damn about what everybody else is thinking about your music taste (well, if you don’t write for big English metal magazines….)

Blues for the uninitiated can be as for every other style of music with people shouting “it all sound the same”. Well, it does but there are, even for me who is not a diehard blues rock listener, a diversity in this band’s songs. There is last song for the night songs, there are songs that shouts out stand up for yourself and fill yourself with pride. They are not here to reinvent the blues; they are here to carry the 12 bar into this century and they do it damn good.

Since I know Jerry has been sober for years the song “Gotta quit drinking” is a song about sobriety and choices you make in life, but they don’t point the finger right in your face they just tell you in a good way to make better decisions.

“Death Knock” with its repetitive life isn’t easy lyrics get stuck in your head, but I hope that you will avoid the meaning of it in your life as far as possible.

Putting a song like “Only Rock n roll” as the last song is a bit like the band says “ha! Got ya there didn’t we” and I like it a lot. “Howl like the wolf “isn’t too hard to figure out what’s or who it’s about.
My favourite song though is “Let´s join hands” – please let us all do that we are all here together and let’s do the best of it. (pay a bit of attention to the lyrics-spot on 2022 )
