Eclipse – Live Västerås 25/3-22
Live music in a foyer. A rock/ hard rock show in a foyer! Well that what was given us in Västerås this Friday night. One of the bands first shows post Covid was to be held in these surroundings. And the strange feeling of being out of place just went out the window when the band started playing.
MAN! the energy of this band is so fantastic. Eriks smile from ear to ear. Victor Crusners “Angus Young can go home” energy all over the stage (mostly kept on his side but from time to time he was all over the place literally). The stable work of Philip Crusner and Magnus Henriksson glue this powerhouse together into a force to be reckoned with for a long time.
Some people may call it Eurovision rock. I prefer Melodic hard rock if anything. The lyrics (“Downfall of eden” were dedicated to Mr Putin) and the melodies are of the highest quality.
If now Swedish metal has been living in the shade of In Flames and Sabaton there are loads of bands coming behind. Apart from this magnificent machine known as Eclipse, you have Evergrey and Avatarium for example.
Back to Fridays gig. Erik had the audience in his hand from the start. It was a warm welcome and even warmer response. The audience were on their toes tonight. The singalongs were loud, the smiles from the stage infected the whole audience i think.
I cannot wait to see this Band live again. I know I put 10 out of 10 on the Evergrey show last December. Here they are two steps behind so to speak. I missed some songs (a show that feels like 45 minutes and lack of tracks is a great show isn´t it?) tonight but you can not always get what you want. Even from a band who got such great response and have such great discography.
I hope and believe that the fans in the front row coming from “all over Europe” enjoyed the gig as much as I did.
