Magic!
That is the only word I can describe what me and those who attended the gig at the legendary Nalen in Stockholm wittnessed on Saturday December 11th.
Two great bands on fire. The support act The Quill needs to get an honourable mention here as they delivered their Black Sabbath drenched rock with their heads held high. They knew what they had to deal with. 30 minutes and they took it. Hopefully some new fans left the building that evening.
Evergrey then! Damn for a band who make such a dark and gloomy sounding music they are on top of whatever you call their music. In my opinion since the brilliant “Hymns for the broken” released in 2014 they have just gotten better for each release.
Doing shows to promote their latest record “Escape of the phoenix” now and the band tonight seemed to have a great time. As I was front row I have no idea how the response of the rest of the audience was but I got goosebumps almost on every song.
The setlist was like a Greatest Hits for fans, even if I missed the Epic “Grand Collapse”(guys! Next time- make room for that song in the set thank you!).
I hope more and more people will discover (or rediscover) this band. They deserve it. Even if the dark gloomy appearances in videos and lyrics might scare people or make people think they are a tough act to like. They are not. And if they get the response they seemed to got tonight this journey will continue for a long time.
The world needs a band like Evergrey!.
I am very careful with ratings over 8 no matter if its a live show or a record but this night was a night to remember..
The last live show for me was by far the best I attended. And to pick a best song out of the set is just impossible…
