Evergrey – The Atlantic

Evergrey now celebrate 20 years as an established part of the swedish metal scene. Not bad. I’ve had my eyes on them since 2003 and it really feels strange that we’ve reached this age! Their new album, although, isn’t among their best work. It’s all good an all, but I can somewhat miss the melodies that are a piece of the bands classic sound. There are a little too many dark riffs and too few powerful melodies here. The next time, I hope they connect themselves with their melodic sound again.

Evergreys later albums has had a harder time connecting with the fans than the earlier stuff, especially highlights Recreation Day (2003) and The Inner Circle (2004). This one probably wont change that, but it’s still a good album and a piece of decent prog metal. If you like the band, give it a few spins! If you wanna get to know the band better, I’d rather recommend one of the earlier mentioned classics.
