Gloryhammer – LEGENDS FROM BEYOND THE GALACTIC TERRORVORTEX
9/10
Hadn’t heard this band before I got this release in my ears. Gloryhammer is a mix of Finnish Lordi and the symphony metal masters Rhapsody. Get some Manowar feeling also when I see this band. Unlike Manowar, Gloryhammer is a pure theater and everything they do is fictitious and well-directed. But we start from the beginning, Gloryhammer is a band consisting of Angus McFife XIII, Crown Prince of Fife – Vocals, Ser Proletius, Grand Master of the Death Knights of Crail – Guitars, The Hootsman, Astral Demigod of Unst – Bass, Zargothrax, Dark Emperor of Dundee – Keyboards and Ralathor, the Mysterious Submarine Commander of Cowdenbeath – Drums. They have written a fairy tale about the good and the evil. A fairy tale that is well-produced and good.
It began with the first album “Tales from the kingdom of Fife”, continued with “Space 1992: Rise of the chaos wizards”. Now the third album has been released and the story continues where it ended on the last album. The intro “Into the Terrorvortex of Kor-Virliath” has a telling voice that directs the listener into history directly. The first song is “The Siege of Dunkeld (In Hoots We Trust)” which is symphonic, powerful and really good. The band shows what qualities they have as musicians. The chorus is strong and the listener find himself quickly humming along. “The Masters of the Galaxy” is the next song and the quality keeps up. The songwriter has done a good job, the album took three years to come out, but it was worth the wait. “The Land of Unicorns” is fast, well-played and yes again, good. The keyboards fit perfectly. Thoughts go to Rhapsody and it’s nothing negative! The song Gloryhammer also has been released as a single and it is a good choice. Check out the video and you will see a little what they do. “Hootforce” is without a doubt my favorite on the album, the symphonic and the raw are perfectly combined. The singer has a perfect voice for the music. The chorus is the strongest on the album and I have been singing it for several days. Can’t get it out of my mind.
Have you not heard Gloryhammer so do it! I will definitely listen more to this band. Why not for the summer picnic.
