H.E.A.T. review – Sabaton Open Air 2018
7/10
In december 2009 a guy named Erik Grönwall won the swedish Idol television competition and I remember that I was extremely impressed by his voice. Now nine years later he’s the leadsinger of the band H.E.A.T. and this saturday they perform the Sabaton Open Air with their melodic hard rock. I can quickly hear that he’s still an amazing singer and besides that he has developed himself when it comes to his stage presence. He was energetic back in 2009 but that’s nothing if you compare to the Erik Grönwall you see in Falun this rainy saturday. Yes that’s right, when H.E.A.T. got on stage the rain start pouring down from the sky and no one was happy. Luckily it stopped and the most of the concert we can enjoy without the rain.
H.E.A.T. is one of the most well-oiled swedish bands at the moment and Erik is doing a great job making the audience feel welcome. At one point the crowd moving him over their heads for about 30 seconds and later in the show he pick up a little kid on stage and if that little man wasn’t to young he will remember it for the rest of his life. The parents will definitely remember this gesture from the frontman in H.E.A.T.. Musically it’s nothing to complain about, five guys that are very professional and know exactly what they are doing on that stage. “Mannequin Show” is a great song despite the fact that the intro is taken from Britney Spears (“Oops I Did It Again”) and “Redefined” from the last album “Into The Great Unknown” work as well. The crowd is going nuts when the band decide to play a part from AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” and I notice some older guys that going crazy when they perform “Heartbreaker”.
Sabaton Open Air is a great festival if you take the mixture of melodic rock, hard rock, folk metal, heavy metal, power metal and Trollfest. Everything works and most of the bands got a good treatment from the audience. For me it’s time to wrap this festival up with this review but I can guarantee you that I will be back next year, and hopefully so do you.
