Hammerfall – Hammer Of Dawn

7/10

There are many bands out there playing Heavy Metal but there are only one Hammerfall and when it comes to holding on to their roots few bands are like Hammerfall. It’s been 25 years ago since the release of the debut album “Glory To The Brave” and now eleven albums later they are back with a new Heavy Metal album titled “Hammer Of Dawn”. How does it sound? Well, how do you think? It’s 45 minutes Hammerfall kind of Heavy Metal and it sounds good, really good, for better or worse.

I mean that we have heard this before but they are doing it so extremely well so they get away with it once again and Hammerfall shouldn’t be ashamed of anything because thay have found their formula to write and perform good Heavy Metal. The opening track “Brotherhood” setting the tone directly and I’m so very, very glad that it wasn’t a boring intro that started the album. “Hammer Of Dawn” was released as the first single and it definitely made the fans eager to hear more. “No Son Of Odin” and “Venerate Me” are two relatively anynomous songs.

With “Reveries” it’s getting interested again and I really like “Too Old To Die Young”. Hammerfall have done some really good ballads over the years and “Not Today” is no exception, they did it once again so to say. “Live Free Or Die” is a shrag and it’s nice to hear some riffing along with a good refrain in the next song “”State Of The W.I.L.D.”. The last song is “No Mercy” and it’s significant to Hammerfall if we talk about holding on to the roots. They show no mercy when it comes to play Heavy Metal and they’ve done a good album once again.
