Ignited- Cradle of the wicked

6/10

Another band tip sent to me by my dear friend Roger. This is full on straightforward, energetic heavy metal. Even if the band originates from Brazil (now relocated to Sweden) Ignited originated in the South of Brazil but now claims Stockholm, Sweden, as their new official base, with guitarist Dalton Castro steering the band into the realm of heavy metal. There is nothing in the music that sounds remotely close to Sepultura or Agra, which for the masses of metal are the best known acts from that country isn’t it? Heavy metal with more in common to bands like Primal Fear in my ears. At least opening track “Cradle of the wicked “has in my ears a clear connection to Primal Fear mixed with US 80´s power metal. For me it is more enjoyable when SINGER are not screaming his lungs out but focus on the more melodic side and have more in common with Kai Hansens style of singing.” At the damneds hall” is at first one of the standout tracks on the album, they shift down from their full force furious attack and focus on the more melodic side. The heaviness goes on with “Bloody satisfied” another track fighting for the glory of “stand out track”, and thankfully the most obvious (in my opinion) PF vibes are gone.

Seem like they realised that focusing on melodies rather than playing as fast as possible is more suitable for the band’s music. I enjoy the music far more from track 2 and onwards. Let’s forget that one, ok.  Cradle…” is not a song that decides the album at all as it seems. If you´re into high quality heavy metal with catchy melodies and a singer that can take the high notes without sounding like David Coverdale live in the last few years but rather Rob Halford or Todd LaTorre- this is your music. The albums ballad “Life Goes By” is a beautiful song  followed by maybe the heaviest song on the album, “Nightshift. I can see a future tour with maybe Masterplan, Firewind. Gamma Ray and so on for this band, hopefully they get spots on the biggest festivals and even if they do play early go see them if you get the chance…

Hard part to decide what song to be named stand out track. Great craftmanship almost through the whole album. But a question stil remain, were “Cradle of the wicked” placed on the album as a first track just to get people to react to the band. It does not give the rest of the album justice.
