Jordan Rudess – Wired For Madness
5/10
Without any doubt Jordan Rudess is one of the best keyboard players in the music world. He has been a member in Dream Theater since 1999 and the album “Metropolis Part 2:Scenes From A Memory”, and he has also released eleven solo albums during that time. His new studio album is called “Wired For Madness” and it starts with two marathon songs, “Wired For Madness pt 1” is over eleven minutes and “Wired For Madness pt 2” is over twentytwo minutes. The main focus is the music on those two tracks and believe me when I say that Jordan is a damn good musician. For me it gets kind of boring though, and don’t get me wrong here because i appreciate goood musicians. This time it’s too much with 34 minutes of music masturbating though.
Then something happened. The lenght of the songs become normal and the third track “Off The Ground” is my favourite on the album. There is not that much experimental music anymore and at some songs, “Just For Today” for example, I hear some Ghost influences. I believe when it comes to musicians who is really good their solo albums become more of doing a musicians record for other musicians if you understand what I mean. People out there who can play keyboard appreciate this album more than me but if the next solo album from Jordan contains more songs like “Off The Ground”, “Just For Today” and “Why I Dream” my rate will definitely get higher.
