Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley
KISS gazillionth farewell tour reached Sweden recently. This time it actually looks like Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are serious about quitting. This year actually marks the 23 year anniversary of the first time I saw them on a farewell tour.
Let’s be honest here – KISS were never fantastic musicians. The strength has been the song writing and the showmanship. It is still a good show, but honestly it is about time. The same set is repeated each night and most of Paul Stanley’s vocals are pre-recorded. But they still know how to put up a good show and the audience does not seem to disapprove.
All the biggest hits are of course included in the set but I still would have preferred swapping some of the songs for more popular hits, especially considering it is a farewell tour.
The first night was plagued by heavy rain but the crowd still kept the spirits high. The second night reportedly had better weather.
After Dalhalla The Greatest Show on Earth travelled to Norway, for what was probably the last show ever on Scandinavian soil. On December 2 everything comes to a halt in Madison Square Garden – a very worthy last stop.
