Krylbo Mangel 2022

Some might say it’s in the middle of nowhere, and that might be the truth, but I have seldom attended such a beautifully placed rock club. With a big stage outdoors on a big field and a smaller stage inside an old barn! Torp Rock club has become a favourite place for me when it comes to concerts. And tonight, the whole venue became further away from its original place and one or maybe two metres lower into the ground. Krylbo Mangel 2022. And damn what a line-up. Haunted headliner, supported by Horndal, Kazjurol, Ett Dödens maskineri and Hästspark. All Swedish and every single band did their best even if the audience were sometimes hard to bring up front.

First band on stage is hometown band Hästspark. Stoner/doom band with a vocalist very similar in his singing style to the late LG Petrov (imagine latter years Entombed). Hats off to the band for their performance and willingness to kick off the night. It will be interesting to follow your future endeavours.

Surprised to see Kazjurol as the second band of the night. Could it be because of age boys? I’m a bit biased here since I like them a lot and they’re from my hometown Fagersta. But if you want your Slayer back and adore Kreator between 1985 up to 1990 then go and grab yourself a physical copy of this bands two full length album. Even Tomas, the singer has a resemblance to Tom Arraya (well mr arraya still beast you beard wise), but such a solid show. Their third album will be out this fall so watch out. Apart from the fact that I really like the band, this is one of all those bands who fell through back in the day and should have been playing a bigger part in the music history. This reunion is nothing about revenge instead I think its just because they love what they do.

Up next is a band who made Torp move a few metres away from its original position. Ett Dödens Maskineri. Damn. Not my cup of tea at all but still so impressed by how totally furious a band can sound and still manage to be focused. I asked a friend of mine to name a band that is similar to this band and he said it sounds like Breach.
Lyrically about politics and a certain party here in Sweden (well two actually…) but I liked them more when the slowed their bulldozing music down. They did have quite a fan base though and the evenings first Mosh pit appeared. Hats off to them

Well, you can’t be prophet in your own hometown it says. Well, Horndal beg to differ. This is the third time this year I have the privilege to see them live, from a small club stage to a festival stage and back again to this club stage. Horndal feels and seems like they been around forever and never mind how small stage it is. They’re full on and the singer Henrik Levahns just owns the whole area. I thought The Haunted would have a run for their money…

But how wrong I was. Legendary thrash act The Haunted, tonight playing as a quartet with Patrik Jensen at home sick. That did not stop them from making sure Torp did sink even further down after Horndals gig. And what to say about the smiling Marco Aro. His approach is just what the music world needs. The audience wasn’t the biggest, but he handled it as it was a big festival stage and he needed to reach out to every single one. And I am sure he did.
It didn’t take long until he had the audience in his hand, and he seemed to enjoy every moment of the night. Bowing out with “Hate Song” was a great ending to an all in all great evening.
I agree with Aro who hopes “Krylbo Mangel” will come back in 2023.
