The evening begins already in the lobby bar, where the awesome Sungen is warming up everyone with some truly great music, and an eager crowd is waiting to be let into the beautiful theatre, where the red and golden decor is just the perfect framing for this band.
It’s like they have simply emerged from the walls, floor and ceiling.
A beautiful band sharing a beautiful evening with a beautiful audience in a beautiful venue. #howmanytimescanoneusethewordbeautifulinonesinglesentence ?
Oh well, in all honesty there is a lot of black makeup in the faces of the band members… so much for the red and golden theme, huh?
At least it’s very accurate when it comes to singer Madeleine Liljestam, who is a true vision in red and gold.
Pure as a forest nymph, a mythical magical being, and at the same time as dignified as an Oriental Queen as she guides us through the 90 minute long show.
Of course with brilliant backup from her band members, especially guitarrist Rikard Ekberg who also brings in the growling. And also, for the first time live, clean vocals in the title track of the upcoming EP, “All Shall Burn”, which is one of the treats we get this evening.
The just released single “Enemies” is another one, and the cover of one of my absolute favourite Rammstein songs, “Mein Herz Brennt” yet another.
And beautiful synchronized headbanging, that is simply spot on and still feels naturally relaxed and spontanious, even though it has to be well rehearsed.
In the beginning the vocals are a bit drowned by the music, but the levels get corrected after a while, and all is good and peaceful but at the same time raw, dark and brutal.
And very visual, and filled with energy and power.
And humble gratefulness.
And a feeling of togetherness, that we are all family, that we all matter, that we all belong.
That we are all LOVE.
Love is also getting to experience Madeleine on stage, bringing us the beautiful and touching ballad “Please”. Alone, vulnerable and broken, but still standing strong, and you can feel how the emotions all fill up the venue, bringing the audience to tears.
Eleine have released two studio albums, and from those two we get a great mix, together with three new ones. And the crowd, consisting of fans from all over the globe – UK, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and who knows where, it’s just obvious that everyone is happy and beyond to be here, to experience this all.
And the final with “Break Take Live”, where Madeleine dances around with her golden wings, like a Phoenix risen from the ashes, is an amazingly visual and powerful ending to this magical evening we all just shared.
