LUCIFER: LUCIFER V

7/10

So, the first thing that strikes me when I start this album is that I believe that I am listening to an old Mötley Crüe album.

“Fallen Angels” has a riff that would suite Too Fast For Love. Even in 2024. That sets me off on a nice little eighties journey with Lucifer as my companion for about 40 minutes.

“At the Mortuary” is a somewhat more somber and dark number that follows. Heavy riffs, slow, dragging tempo to start with but in true Lucifer fashion the chorus is as always catchy.

“Riding Reaper” that follows follow on that theme. Can not help but wonder if some of the songs on the album is some old Nicke Andersson riffs from Imperial State Electric? This could be that I feel.

“Slow Dance In The Crypt” leaves the tempo slow, but we still keep the catchy bits in the songs and the groove is ever present.

“A Coffin Has No Silver Lining”…. the riff master here must have listened to “Looks That Kills” by Mötley Crüe here. It is so incredibly like that song in the tempo and the way they compose the song is built just like the old Crüe song.

“Maculate Heart”, is it Hotel California I am listening to? Oh, the song starts, and I think I am in Imperial State Electric land again. This has to be an unused song from them.

“The Dead Don´t Speak” is another darker number yet again. Going towards the more occult sounding bands; I like!!

“Strange Sisters” does not disappoint either. More up-tempo and flowing, it keeps the momentum going.

“Nothing Left To Loose But My Life” finishes of the album. Again, somber and mellow but yet ambient and powerful. Almost hypnotically bluesy in build.

It may sound like I am having a bit of a go with my references to other songs and artists, but that is not the case. I am simply pointing out my personal references that I hear when listening.

Johanna Platow Andersson does a lovely job with the vocals as she usually does. Composition of the songs are yes, familiar but as long as they are good familiar, I am not really bothered. Good music is good music, and this is good music.
