Massacre – Resurgence

7/10

One of my favourite death metal machines are back. Florida’s Massacre has dug into their catacombs of yesterdays and formed them into 22nd century metal. But don’t be afraid its just a natural progress from “From Beyond”.

This is just what the world needs. Hope the band can carry on from here. It’s like they never left. Kam is growling as usual as one of the top death metal vocalists. And with the new line-up they take off just where the band left off from the “From Beyond” record.

This is really a homage to the bands legacy. Fast, immense and brutal. And when “Whisper in Darkness” appears you are knocked out gasping for some kind of resurrection to avoid further beating. With Book of the dead” the legendary growls from the depths of the earth is coming through Kams vocal chords up to plague its surrounding the way it should.

The further the album goes it is remarkable how true to the old sound the album is. This is not modern death metal. This metal is for those of us who had “Left Hand path” for breakfast, “Altars Of Madness” for lunch and served “Leprosy” for dinner.
Into The Far Off Void” turns into a favorite. A figurative song on the album. With “Servants of discord” they challenge me with a runner up to the favorite track competition.

Impressed by the fact that they release an album that gets more interesting and intense as it goes along. The musical juggernaut continues. It’s like watching an incoming hurricane listening to the album. A good thing is that it is just about 40 minutes long. The bad thing is that it ends after 40….
