Nestor – Live at Sabaton Open Air 2022-08-06
8/10
We go again with an 80´s oozing band Nestor. Proper melodic hardrock. Drums, bass, keyboard, guitar and vocals. Just as the stadium rock of years past was meant to be.
The feeling of anticipation before the concert can not be mistaken for a minute. You see the tail of people making their way from beer tents, food and sunshine towards the stage. Sound is another level better for this one.
As the band takes the stage the support is great. People waving, jumping up and down and singing along to all the songs. Not so strange when they play “Kids In a Ghost Town” as number 2, “Tomorrow” as number four and “Perfect ten (Eyes Like Demi Moore)” as number five.
Moving on to “These Days” that sounds so much like Chicago “Stay the Night” in such a good way.
The area surrounding this left stage keeps filling up more and more as the band plays on.
I would take that as a sign that you are doing something right with your performance.
The delivery of the songs and a theme of presence (most bands have had a good presence today) makes this a pleasant gig to witness as well. The songs do hold their own and would have probably been world hits if they were released 35 years ago.
“Firesign” could have been a Mötley Crue song. It has the melodic touch but the rawness of a new fresh Mötley. With a modern touch Nestor is a band too late in time for their own good. I have a feeling that they do not care about that at this moment. They do actually look like they are having to much fun performing.
Again, I can not be critical of the performance as such, Nestor are doing a great job for the duration of the gig. And now that the sound is more coherent and better all the time, the concerts are getting more enjoyable.
