P.O.D. – Circles

3/10

“Don’t bore us, get to the chorus.” This classic phrase on Per Gessle’s guitar picks should be have painted on the studio wall when P.O.D. recorded their last album “Circles”. This has to be one of the most frustrating albums I have heard in a very long time. The sound is brilliant, the energy (when they finally hit it off) is there as well. But just as soon as the song gets going, they slow down and wander around like four spliffs in search for an ashtray. Is just like they are embarrassed over their hits back in 2001 and taking any detour possible to avoid a new “Alive”, “Boom” or “Satellite.” It actually takes them to track number 10 (!) to get started at all, still without that chorus though. The producer should have sent P.O.D. right back to the rehearsal studios to rewrite the lot of it. And thrown a few of Per Gessle’s guitar picks in one of their cases as a reminder of what rock is all about.
