Praying Mantis – Gravity
9/10
I was going to write that spring is here but I changed my mind, summer is here and a new album by Praying Mantis has reached the stores. The new album “Gravity” shows how skilled they are at writing good and catchy songs. The opening song “Keep it alive” is the perfect opening song. Harmony with good guitar riff. Lead singer John Cuijpers voice is perfect. “Mantis Anthem” is the first of a couple of ballads on the record. A song you’ll be glad to hear with good chorus that settles. “Time can heal” is great AOR. Just lifting the hat and take a bow. “39 years” is top quality AOR. I’m impressed by the powerful backingvocals on the whole record. The title song “Gravity” is just as good as the others.”Destiny in motion” contains another great and strong chorus. To end the record with “Final destination” is a perfect closing. It starts slow and build up to a great finish. I had no greater expectations when I was to review this record. I was pleasantly surprised after my first listening. This is how I want to feel when I hear a new record. I want to be delighted and mesmerized. This record touches me. Praying Mantis has been around for a long time, they were formed in the mid 70 ‘s. Many of the members who have been in the band has a relationship to Iron Maiden.
