Raubtier – Live At Sabaton Open Air 2022-08-05

5/10

One thing that rings in my head while writing for Stargazed is to be open minded about bands. Even bands I have categorically neglected is to be giving a chance. That is one reason I agreed to be a part of our “Five Stoormtroopers” review of Sabatons latest album.

Here we are with another band I have not taken in at all. But you can say whatever you want about Raubtier but live this is a force of nature. It’s a “I dont give a shit” atittude with both melodies and lyrics that probably would be more noted if sung in English. Still at this festival there are fans from all over the world and I dont think that it was only Swedish speaking fans in the quite big crowd they gathered. But Raubtier and Sabaton Open Air is a marriage made in heaven on the other hand.

Time to reevaluate the band and crawl to a unholy cross and try to give them a chance but this was far better than I feared. Pär is such a great frontman and also a frontman who knows how to handle a crowd.

If Deathstars tries to be Rammstein light or something I bet Raubtier would go down far better as Swedens own Rammstein (of course without the insane stage show the Germans bring on). It’s heavy, it’s hard, it’s melodic (all you fans of Raubtier laughs loudly I suppose but give me a break please) but with an own twist that makes it special.

The band (Pär) gives us observations of the barren lands of the far north of Sweden and put them into words. So I think it’s time to throw my preconcieved meanings about Raubtier in a not so far future.

Thank you guys for making the biggest surprise gig of the festival.
