Sirenia – Live at Sabaton Open Air 2022-08-06

Glad to hear that when the right stage has the first act on the only thing that I react to regarding the sound is loud!!

And we are at a now sunny festival Saturday and should expect some good noise coming from stage right I do think.

Their somewhat fast paces Gothic inspired metal really goes down well. The mix of the heavy dark guitars and the female clean and crystal clear voice mold really well.

I have to say that the guitar sound here with the two guitarists backed by a fat, fat bass is pleasing to hear.

Vocals as well going so clear and going between just singing and into a more clean opera tone with no trouble at all is a nice feature.

As for the commitment from the musicians is on a high level. Again I have to take my hat off to the professionalism of the group.

“My Minds Eye” that comes a bit into the set gives a good showcase of what I have described above. It is heavy, it gives the guitars a great big room to show of in. And the vocals gets to drift in a lot of different ways and does so effortlessly.

Sirenia finishes of with the song “Path to Decay”. Great song to finish of the set with. Again we go between different riffs, different singing styles and the band really does do a good performance here.

How to summarize this gig in a few small sentences? Well, I think that Sirenias music actually does better on a stage than on album. I did not think that before I saw this performance. The music can somewhat be a bit distant. My fear was that the performance would be slightly audience distant and more musician friendly.

But I was wrong. This was a crowd friendly pleasant experience that unfortunately only lasted 40 minutes. I would have liked more, but you can not always get your way, can you? So, here is a clap and a bow for a good afternoon gig.
