Tad Morose – March Of The Obsequoius
8/10
First of all! Welcome back boys. You’ve been missed.
You haven’t stepped away too far from Tad Morose formula and no need since you guys have a quite high standard from the beginning. This is what the world of traditional metal needs in 2022. If you are familiar with the band since before, no need to be afraid of changes in musical direction here.
One question is: How many songs by hard rock and metal bands include the word Pandemonium? This song has no doomsday feeling to it, rather the opposite and still sounds like Tad Morose. One of many standout tracks on the record.” Phantasm” follows and it’s like slowly put your foot on the brake (following “Pandemonium”). Still going fast though into “Dying” which is a bit even more slow than the rest and has more of a fatal vibe to it, slowing down and focusing on the melodies.
I wonder what would have happened to the band if they had fought through the hard times after “Modus Vivendi” (2003) and struggled on, what level would they have been on?
I am very glad, as many of us are, that they are back though.
“Escape”, is a track with a chorus that makes you want to throw your fist in the air and feel your self-confidence building up. If the lyrics are conscious or not shall go untold, however it’s another song that fights for the epithet stand out track on the album, only to be out concurred by the following song “A trail of sins”.
A third track throwing itself into the contest is “A quilt of shame”. I find myself favouring Tad Morose when they focus on the heavier melodies. I give up sorting out “best song of the album” I think. There are so many great tunes I´ll shuffle them to finally decide. Just sit back and enjoy one hell of a comeback album.
In the words of Christer Krunt Andersson Its traditional Tad Morose metal. Plain and clean as that! Those who know the band since earlier knows exactly what to expect.
Damn you guys. A lot of records kind of lacks inspiration on the later parts, but this record throws that theory right out the window. Fantastic later part of a fantastic album! I really hope a lot of people discover this hidden diamond of a band.
Sabaton Open Air? Skogsröjet? A perfect act for your festival bill.
