Tarja – Act II

5/10

When I first took part of the stream to this record I almost fainted, it was 20 songs on the album and it’s almost two hours long. There is two things I’m allergic to when it comes to music and the first one is all those intros who pops up in the beginning of lots of records. The second thing is albums with long playtime. And this definitely fits in under category two. “Act II” is to long for sure and my interest are not on top through the whole record, but there are some fine tunes on the album as well. I don’t want to be negative all the way so lets focus on the good things on this live recording.

It’s a great start with songs like “No Bitter End”, “500 Letters”, “Eagle Eye” and the brilliant “Demons In You”. There are some really good riffs there and Tarjas voice sounds great. Her voice is great throughout the entire record because she is one of the best female singers in the metal world. It’s the rest of the material which doesn’t come up to the heights where the record starts off. Of course there is good songs including “Undertaker”, “Victim Of Ritual”, Until My Last Breath” and a pretty cool version of the old James Bond theme “Goldfinger”. There is no doubt that the audience in Milan love her and to be honest her voice is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it doesn’t help much because there is not enough good songs to fill up almost two hours of music.
