Vega – Grit Your Teeth

5/10

When sunset strip meets today’s Melodic rock scene you get bands like Vega.
Sing-along friendly songs, easy to catch on to even if you haven´t heard it before.
“(I don´t need) Perfection” is the second track and straight out here I would have heard the warning bells that this album just turning out to be a feeling of one long song. Of course here are exceptions. “Man on a mission” “Dont´t fool yourself” might be two of them.

The feeling of radio friendly music still carries on throughout the record. Even after 2-3 spinnings. A song like “Consequence of having a heart comes on” get all my fears of a not so very lasting album.
“This Ones for you” would easily be a Heavy rotation song. Should easily be the hit song of the album if bands put out singles and made videos like when MTV ruled the music world. The dips are here and there and there is no song that I will remember after reviewing this album.

As I said in the beginning. This feels like a band who woke up from a closed down club in the LA area in the last breaths of the ”Hair metal era” when hearing this album. Party fuelled rock who would be labelled as copycats back in those days. Because they were kind of late to the party.

Reading that this is the bands sixth album surprises me that I haven´t heard a note from them before. And not taken notice through any magazine.
One foot still on the sunset strip and the other in melodic rock land the mixes quite good.
Sadly it is just one long song. Until song number seven “This One´s for you” it sounds the same but there is something that I feel is a bit different.
