Vikings And Lionhearts Tour 2022

Friday night in Stockholm, payday, two established legendary band and one opening act on the rise. The question is why can´t they sell out “Hovet”? Halo Effect is in my world the talk of the town, the next big thing from Sweden. Is it the Swedish mentality of “don’t you think you’re better than anyone else?” 2 of 3 bands are Swedish as you know.
Luckily enough Mikael Stanne has been around and probably seen it all, from the smallest cleaning scrub to the main stages of the biggest festivals in the world so he knows how to handle an audience. We all know the struggles of Jesper Strömblad, but I had a small hope he would do a guest appearance tonight but that was not the case.  Anyhow- it was a perfect start to a great evening.

Second band on were Machine Head. Robb and his men knows how to do a proper show, of course during its 28 years in existence they could easily filled a two hour set. If Mikael Stanne had the knowledge on how to focus on those who were there, Robb seemed to need a bigger crowd  to get going. Strange to think that if I had the choice to decide- Machine Head would open the night.
“Davidan” is still one hell of a song I think.

Amon Amarth closes the night. Through the night there were more pyro and other effects than I have seen this side of Rammstein at Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium a few years back. One of the bigger newspapers in Sweden focused in their review totally on if Johan were sick tonight and the stage sets. Yes! It was extravagant, and there were some child diseases in the choreography but still. It wasn’t a band who stood still and just brought the setlist like it was going out with the trash. All credit to the band.
