Live review – Sabaton Open Air 2019: Candlemass

Expectations from the audience are high. Expectations from me are high. Candlemass 2019, how does they sound? From the first notes to the last, it can only be described with one word; Perfect! This is how Doom should be played. This is how Doom should sound. It’s heavy, it’s goose bumps on my arms. The guitars, the drums, all sound perfect. Johan Langquist, who recently reunited with the band, has much left to give. His voice holds without difficulty. Leif Edling looks to be happy as never before on stage. He mostly walks around and smiles and just takes in the atmosphere. Candlemass is back for real as long as they can. The years start to turn grey on the members but doom, they can.
