Live review – Sabaton Open Air 2019: Manimal
If we talk influences Judas Priest have made quite an impact on Henrik Stenroos, guitarist in Manimal. We are having a long talk after the bands show and “Painkiller”, the 1990 effort from Judas Priest, is mentioned several times. When you see Manimal on stage you can hear that K.K Downing and Glen Tipton is around somewhere in the atmosphere around the riffing parts. The sound is good, the musicians are competent, the weather is good and the riffing parts is brilliant. Why not a higher rate? The songs I must say. Manimal is one of hundreds of other bands that are writing good heavy metal music but the peaks are to few.
“Purgatorio” is one of the best songs released in 2018 and if the rest of the material were as good Manimal would definitely be one of the biggest bands in the genre. The future though is looking bright if you ask me because the band are good performers on the stage and songs like “Invincible” and “Irresistible” are working absolutley fine in the bands live set. This along with the fact that the members are very down to earth people should take Manimal to the next level hopefully already with the next album.
This thursday in Falun they showed the competence as a live act and I can guarantee that more and more people was getting their eyes opened when they saw the band live. They started back in 2001 and the future for Manimal is looking really fine.
