Live review – Sabaton Open Air 2019: NorthTale
Two years ago Dirkschneider played the Sabaton Open Air and one of the guitar players that time was Bill Hudson. He was kind of lost, first at Arlanda literally, on that stage. He wasn’t comfortable playing with Dirkschneider and it was very obvious for us in the crowd. Now two years later he’s back in Falun with the band NorthTale and it’s a completely different person we see on the stage this year. NorthTale also including Christian Eriksson on vocals and Patrick Johansson on drums, two local guys from Falun, which give the band a solid ground to stand on.
Christian who used to be the vocalist in Twilight Force really shows that you can do a great job as a front man just by being humble and calm, the voice is pretty good as well. The man of the evening though is Bill Hudson and it’s really nice to see him so comfortable on that stage instead of being totally lost standing beside Udo in Dirkschneider. The riffs are great, the solos sounding very well and the man is shining when he play.
What about the songs you may ask? Well they have released one album and it’s a decent one. Off course they are playing the songs from the album and the songs is working out live as well on record. The title track “Welcome To Paradise” and “Time To Rise” are the best ones this night in Falun and I’m looking forward to the next NorthTale album because this is a unshaped diamond in the metal world.
