Clutch is the antithesis of Def Leppard, who finished their set right before Clutch entered the Rock Stage. While Def Leppard comes with perfect production and band members who look like they come straight from the hairdresser, with perfect highlights and all Clutch are probably wearing the same clothes they wear any other day and they certainly have no highlights or fancy haircuts. Guitarist Tim Sult looks like a retired football hooligan turned your local not so friendly self-proclaimed neighbourhood watchman, just wearing a simple leisure jacket. And when it comes to the music we are far from perfect production and prerecorded keyboards, electronic drums etc. Clutch just play their music – it is rough, dirty and raw. This is what diesel fuel sounds like. There is no rehearsed small-talk inbetween songs. Clutch are an honest band with a sincere love for what they are doing.
Initially forming in Maryland, US in 1991 Clutch are one of the biggest names in stoner-rock. They have 13 albums in their catalogue by now but this is music that is best delivered live. And Clutch delivers!
