Legendary Runaways guitarist Lita Ford played a refreshing set in the sunny afternoon on the Thursday. She has reached 64 years of age but seems to be in a very good shape, both as a person and a musician. She is accompanied by good musicians and delivers a tight set that was a refreshing surprise. Admittedly I have not listened much to any of the old Runaways members’ solo material apart from Joan Jett, but I appreciated this gig a lot.
Ford was in a great mood and seemed to have a really good time on stage. Being mainly a guitarist originally, she still has a strong, good voice too.
Most of the set was her own solo material, spiced up with the Runaways classic Cherry Bomb and a couple of other covers.
I like being surprised, and this was a very nice surprise. A perfect way to spend an hour and a bit in the wonderful summer weather at the festival.
