I have no problem with “Dominion”, it works okay. I can listen to it and dig the music, and some songs could even become future classics; especially “(We Make) Sweden Rock” is a great anthem, and the title track is nice too. But there are no really massive tracks on this one to really take the album higher
Finding inspiration in the great poem Paradise Lost, “Dominion” is about the archangel Lucifer’s fall from the Heavens, down to the pit, and how a warrior shaped demon lord came to conquer them all.
Joacim leans very much on his powerful vocals which hasn´t really changed a lot during the 22 years the band has existed. This is shown in what I think must be the bands heaviest song? “Riders of the Storm”.
The fourth album trailer has now been released, in which they discuss the importance of putting their music into context and why Verdun plays a key role in “The Great War”.
The 16th of august is the date for the release of the brand new album from Hammerfall....
“We all had a metal/hard rock/prog backgrounds, but we felt that our playing style was changing towards a more direct and concise approach,” says Lucio Grilli. “And our way to conceive the songs was influenced as well. In addition to that, we were also looking for something more suitable for Aurelio’s powerful voice, something closer to rock/metal to fully let his voice be heard. It’s more natural for us to talk about MK simply as a melodic metal band than a prog metal one.”
Oscar Dronjak states: ” ‘Good is not good enough; it has to be great.’ This is the mantra we have applied to every aspect of making this album, from the song writing and rehearsals to the production and the performance of each member. The result is Dominion, a powerful force of nature that cannot be stopped. Once you hear it, you will understand.”
The lyrical theme of the record is inner conflict, self-doubt, depression and self-destruction.
