Voidfall – No God But Death

7/10

Another new and before this unfamiliar band for me, thrown my way. All the way from Melbourne Australia but whom easily could have come from postal codes 421 31 or 760 15, here in Sweden. Google it and find out why – or just keep reading.

In direct wake of the legendary Swedish Death metal scene but maybe a bit more updated. The band has been around since 2015 and this is their debut album (having released two demos in 2017 before this) filled with early Dismember/At the Gates/Entombed style death metal. Searching info about the band some web pages say it´s doom metal! I´d like to know where the doom can be found here? This is pure raw death metal nothing else. And if you write Voidfall on Google – you mostly get a boardgame.

“The wolf” is the first one that I think is a bit different than other tracks, it explores more of the bands influences I think, taking more chances/adventures. Including a familiar melody in the solo whom I cannot put into place. For all you death metal connoisseurs how about an album with seven out of nine songs which is six minutes or longer?  Is that true enough? I for one love it. “Necrotica” is a chaotic experience still within the realms of “Swedish death metal legacy” and a favourite track. On the last two songs “Damnatio Memoriae” and “Legacy of horror” they found the imaginary “At the Gates gas pedal”. An album where you find new highs and favourite track almost every time you listen to it, with the latter leaving you wanting more.

Thank you once again Roger for sending me a link for this album who turned out to be a very nice experience. As before mentioned- Remember the early death metal scene In Sweden?
Here is a reminder of how it sounded.
